Red Wine by Falesco from Southern Italy, Italy. Winner of Italy's coveted Tre Bicchieri award. Made from 100% Merlot grown in the Montiano vineyard in Lazio. Montiano's soil is volcanic and rich in stones and the vineyard has a south/southwestern exposure. The grapes were harvested in early September. After fermentation, the wine was aged in Nevers and Tron?ais barriques for 12 months. Montiano has a wonderful deep, ruby red color and a wide range of aromas such as vanilla and small red fruits with layers of jam and sweet spices. It is full-bodied, round and soft on the palate with an elegant and lingering finish.

Red Wine by Falesco from Southern Italy, Italy. Deep ruby red in color, very spicy and rich in aroma. Blackberry, tobacco and vanilla come through on the palate. The finish is long and pleasant. Recommended with spicier dishes and sauces. A favorite with lamb. The 2004 Merlot Pesano was aged five months in small barrels prior to being released. Cotarella is a wizard when it comes to Merlot. This deep ruby/purple-hued effort reveals scents of roasted coffee beans, blackberries, spice box, and a hint of white chocolate. Dense, soft, and everything a Merlot should be, it tastes like a Merlot priced 2-3 times higher. Enjoy it over the next several years. -Wine Advocate
