From a serious, artisinal Rioja producer, this unfined/unfiltered 2002 (a blend of old vine Tempranillo, Graciano, and Grenache) boasts a dark ruby/plum color along with notes of creosote, vanilla, black cherry, and cassis. Red Wine by Bodegas Fernando Remirez de Ganuza from Rioja, Spain. This single vineyard, estate-bottled, unfiltered Rioja is given an unusual upbringing of one year in tank followed by two years in French and American oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Its dense ruby/purple hue is accompanied by sweet aromas of cherries, currants, licorice, and smoky oak. A supple texture is somewhat deceiving as there is plenty of tannin beneath the wine's full-bodied richness and intensity. Beautiful purity and overall harmony suggest a balanced and long life. Red Wine by Cune from Rioja, Spain. Bright ruby, cherry red with good colour structure. Extremely elegant on the nose, balancing mature, fine fruit with the toasty, spicy notes from the wood. On the palate it is rich, structured and complex. Blend: 95 % Tempranillo, 5% Graciano

Red Wine by Bodegas Campillo from Rioja, Spain. Bodegas Campillo was built in 1990 by Julio Faustino Martinez, the owner of Bodegas Faustino, for the purpose of creating limited production, hand-crafted wines. The wines come from a 125-acre vineyard in the Laguardia region of the Rioja Alavesa. These are traditionally styled Riojas in the best sense of that word. The 1994 Gran Reserva is medium ruby with a classy nose of cedar and vanilla, red and black fruits. On the palate this elegant wine is complete and seamless with sweet fruit and complexity of flavor. Perhaps this should not be surprising because 1994 was an outstanding vintage in Rioja (the best before 2001) and Campillo was able to take advantage. The wine is drinking splendidly now and should easily last for another 10 years. -The Wine Advocate

Red Wine by Marques de Riscal from Rioja, Spain. Dark violet in color, with plenty of wood smoke and earth to the nose, which also offers tobacco and mushroom. Dynamic on the palate, with ripe cherry and blackberry flavors. Sort of airy on the finish, with mocha and chocolate. Hefty throughout, with nice tannins. 91-Points Wine Enthusiast- October 2005

Red Wine by Sierra Cantabria from Rioja, Spain. 100% Tempranillo, 50 year old vines. Aromas of roasted nuts, black fruit, toasted bread, and Moroccan spices. Old vine mouthfeel, with ripe tannins and sweet blueberry fruit. Deep red. Restrained, elegant aromas of redcurrant, strawberry and cherry. Then sweeter and denser in the mouth than the nose suggests, with strong blackcurrant and cherry flavors nicely complemented by sexy oak spice and a subtle mineral quality. Finishes chewy, powerful and rich, with a full, broad expression of sweet dark fruits. This is delicious.IWC

Red Wine by Marques de Riscal from Rioja, Spain. 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Others Very complex nose with a combination of balsamic aromas, spices and raisiny fruit. Intense, dark color with just a reddish, iodine-colored tinge at the rim. Initial impact of balsamic aroma in the mouth which fades leaving smoothness along the edge and below the tongue, with a slight recollection of tannin on the upper gums and front palate.

Red Wine by Marques de Caceres from Rioja, Spain. Blend: 85% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano and Garnacha Tinta Dark, garnet red color. Complex bouquet that opens out with notes of slightly spiced blackberries and a hint of refined leather. Very full in the mouth, where this superb wine reveals its character that comes through with fleshy fruit and good structure in which slightly chalky tannins highlight its fullness. Fresh, long-lasting finish. This is an ideal wine to accompany game dishes in sauce or ragout, lamb or beef with spices (roast, stewed or grilled), and mature blue cheese.
