Created by my husband, Greg Jenkins, and me specifically to raise funds for breast cancer research, this wine supports a cause that has touched us personally. 100% of the net profits after taxes of this and future vintages of Victories Rose will be donated to charities supporting the cause, including The V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University, both 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. In 1998, on the 30th anniversary of my 1968 Olympic victory, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. For me, it was another Olympics, a life Olympics. Early detection saved my life. And I believe that my lifelong dedication to health, fitness and personal accomplishment also played an important role in my victory. I was one of the lucky ones, and I am grateful. I decided to share my hopes, my fears and my triumph with people around the world. I hope my story will be an inspiration to anyone facing breast cancer, and that I will be one of the strong symbols of the victories that can be achieved against life's greatest challenges. We must never give up hope. Please join us in the quest for a cure, with a purchase of Victories Rose. Victories is presented in a stunning magnum (1.5 liter) bottle and packaged in a commemorative hand-crafted wooden box. Greg and I thank you for your support and generosity. Ros? Wine by Belle Glos from Sonoma County, California. Clear, crystalline medium rose-salmon color. Aromas of vine-ripened strawberries and green apples, with background notes of sweet oak. On the palate, abundant flavors of cranberry, pomegranate and crisp Fuji apples. Through the finish, the wine opens to a more opulent array of crisp, tangy fruits. A long, red-fruit-driven finish completes this lighter expression of classic Pinot Noir. Best enjoyed well chilled. Wonderfully fruity, but free of even the least hint of candy, and all Pinot Noir in its keen focus on cherries and plums, this pale, salmon-hued working has a nice sense of vinous substance and more fruity depth than most of the competition, but it is always lively and light on its feet. Well-placed acidity counters its scant touch of residual sugar, and its brisk, long-lasting finish is both cleansing and filled with flavor. -Connoisseurs' Guide

Ros? Wine by Tablas Creek from Central Coast, California. Blend: 60% Mourvedre, 28% Grenache, 12% Counoise The Tablas Creek Vineyard Rose 2006 is a blend of three estate-grown varietals, propagated from budwood cuttings from the Chateau de Beaucastel estate. The blend is traditional of the southern Rhone, though the blend of grapes is predominantly Mourvedre, and therefore more like the solid, dry roses of Bandol than the lighter Grenache-based Tavel. The 2006 Rose is rich, ripe, and full of spice and fruit. It has aromatics of sage and juniper, as well as white plum and watermelon, flavors of ripe strawberries, fresh acidity and a lingering finish. Pair it with Mediterranean cuisine, Spanish tapas, preparations with garlic and olive oil...or just enjoy it outside on a sunny day.

Ros? Wine by Ch. D'Aqueria from Tavel, France - Rhone. The qualities of climate and soil allied to a controlled vinification and experienced assembly of each variety make Tavel unique among roses in intensity of color, body and bouquet. Chateau d'Aqueria is the quintessential Tavel, vibrant salmon-pink in color, with a penetrating fruit fragrance offset by floral notes. Bone dry, full bodied and succulently fruity on the palate, its lush intensity and depth are balanced by an extraordinarily refreshing acidity carrying into a long, crisp finish with vibrant peppery nuances.

Ros? Wine by Simi from Sonoma County, California. Giuseppe and Pietro Simi's daughter Isabelle took over management of the winery at the age of 18 and ran it successfully until 1970 when she retired. Over the years, Isabelle planted her Roseto, Italian for rose garden, with a new rose planted in honor of each new U.S. President (except, of course, for President Herbert Hoover, who enacted Prohibition in 1920). To this day, Isabelle's Roseto blooms fragrantly for visitors at the winery's century-old cellars in Healdsburg. A tribute to Isabelle, its dry, delightfully fresh, crisp and juicy style honors her legacy. Varietal Composition: 100% Syrah Appearance: Soft pink with peach hues Aroma: Strawberry and citrus notes with hints of lemon blossom Flavor: Fresh strawberry and peach flavors with mouth-filling ripeness and balanced acidity.

Ros? Wine by Folie a Deux from California. The 2006 Menage a Trois Rose is a blend of Merlot, Syrah and Gewurztraminer. The two red grapes received a 24-hour cold soak on the skins to give the wine its suggestive pinkness and luscious body. The Gewurztraminer was cold fermented to preserve the exotic spice and naked fruit. No malolactic fermentation here - just crisp acidity. This is the epitome of a good rose: a fruit-laden roller coaster ride of raspberries, strawberries, lychee nuts and flowers with a silky smooth finish.

Ros? Wine by I'M from Napa Valley, California. Our second vintage of the Napa Valley Rose was inspired by and made for Isabel Mondavi, by her son Rob. The special relationship shared by Isabel and Rob allows him to interpret and develop her desires into a finished product. Rob is not only the winemaker, but he also came up with the brand name, the I'M are her initials. Not new to the wine industry, Isabel has witnessed the business first hand for 39 years and now has designed wines which reflect her own style. The Rose is made in the Saignee style (see below for definition). Saignee is a process which not only lends itself to the production of a Rose wine, but also enhances the quality and richness of a red wine. I'M Rose is a dry wine with good structure, acidity, and an enjoyable long finish. The acidity lends itself well to diverse styles of food. Last year the family enjoyed the wine at the Thanksgiving table. And yes, it was a traditional turkey dinner. They have also enjoyed this wine with Thai and other haute-Asian cuisines.
