Pinot Gris/Grigio
White Wine by Adelsheim from Willamette Valley, Oregon. Pinot Gris, originating in Burgundy like the other members of the Pinot family, has had a long history all over Europe. In recent times, versions from Alsace and northern Italy have been the best known. Oregon winegrowers introduced Pinot Gris to New World viticulture and in forty years the variety has become the white wine of Oregon. Adelsheim Vineyard can lay claim to being one of the very oldest producers of this variety outside of Europe. With this wine, Adelsheim's 23rd vintage, their experience shows - they've long been acknowledged as producing a reference standard for the Oregon style. Crisp, bright flavors have always been the hallmark of Adelsheim Pinot Gris. In the 2006 vintage, there is beautifully delineated Bosc pear, white peach, and Winesap apple, with a touch of spice. It pulls off the difficult feat of providing a gentle creaminess that lends a mouth-filling texture and long finish, yet still impressing as a wine that's crisp and clean. Try this wine with mildly spicy foods (such as ceviche), not so mildly spicy Thai cuisine, rich fish entrees, and even classic oven-roasted fowl.

White Wine by Plozner from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. The Pinot Grigio grapes are characterized by a rather dark color: thus, vinification occurs without skin maceration, resulting in the wine's intense straw yellow hue. The elegant, fragrant bouquet is characterfully Friulian, quite distinct from other Pinot Gris varietals: very fresh and appealing, reminiscent of apples and exotic fruits, in time it takes on pleasant nuances of dried fruit & hay; good body, full, mellow flavors, balanced and elegant.

Fresh lemon-lime aromas along with grapefruit and a hint of vanilla. Crisp acids join green apple and grapefruit flavors. The finish is soft and sweet with a light minerallike dryness. The Verduzzo grapes ensure complexity and the Pinot Grigio grapes give their usual freshness on the palate. Marked hints of dried fruit and an aftertaste with hints of pineapple. Pinot Grigio delle Venezie is the most up-to-date Italian white wine.
