Sauvignon Blanc

White Wine by Matua Valley from Marlborough, New Zealand. Almost clear with a subtle green hue, the nose is classic Marlborough - passionfruit, generous tropical characters, a gentle touch of sweat, all underpinned with steely minerality. The palate is linear and long, chalky acidity, generous fruit and mineral characters combine to form a complete palate, layered and expressive. A delight to drink in its youth. A wonderful match when served with New Zealand green lipped mussels, served with a coriander broth lightly spiced with chili.

White Wine by Dom. de la Perriere from Loire, France - regions. Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel and concrete vats. Estate-bottled. Emphatically dry and crisp, but with plenty of the lingering fruit and fragrance for which Sauvignon Blanc grown in Sancerre is world famous. A fine choice for light fish and shellfish, many chicken dishes and medium weight cheese. Try also with savory vegetable dishes and Pan-Asian cuisine. Located in the village of Verdigny northwest of the town of Sancerre, in the heart of the upper Loire Valley. 130 acres of hilltop vineyards with deep limestone soil. The founding Archambault family arrived in the region in the 15th century, turning an abandoned cave-like quarry into a winery. The Cave de la Perriere provided an excellent venue for producing fresh, crisp Sancerre. The Domaine is now owned and managed by Jean-Louis Saget.

White Wine by Matanzas Creek from Sonoma County, California. Winemaker Fran?ois Cordesse's passion for Sauvignon Blanc is evident in the sophisticated, yet spirited, nature of this 2006 vintage wine. Comprised of primarily Sauvignon Blanc, this blend also includes 13% Sauvignon Musque, a clonal cousin to Sauvignon Blanc that balances the wine's acidity, strengthens the mid-palate and provides a longer finish. Estate-owned vineyards in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley and Knights Valley are the primary source of this wine's Sauvignon Blanc fruit, while Sonoma County's Knights Valley is the source of the Sauvignon Musque fruit. The translucent, pale straw color of this wine is followed by a fresh bouquet of pink grapefruit and melon. Emulating the nose, the palate of crisp citrus and melon flavor carries a hint of dry white herb, and is accompanied by a soft, round mouthfeel. This supple quality distinguishes Fran?ois' wine from many of the popular green, grassy-style Sauvignon Blancs, and is achieved by fermenting 21% of the final blend in French oak barrels.

White Wine by Shaw & Smith from Australia. The 2007 vintage growing season was overall very warm and dry. Spring frosts affected certain parts of the Adelaide Hills, hence quantities were down a little but not dramatically. The Adelaide Hills had a good vintage in terms of quantity and quality with the flavours of Sauvignon Blanc more in the tropical and less herbaceous spectrum. Palate weight is good. Winemaking Whole bunches are crushed, chilled and pressed then undergo fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Does not undergo any malolactic fermentation as we are looking to retain fruit purity and natural acidity. A benchmark for Australian Sauvignon Blanc. Made from 100% Adelaide Hills grapes, the wine is unwooded to maximize varietal punch. The aroma has restrained sauvignon grassiness coupled with riper fruit characters. The palate is fresh and lively with pure varietal flavours and crisp acidity.

White Wine by Wairau River from Marlborough, New Zealand. Established in 1978, the Rose family estate vineyards are situated on the banks of the Wairau River. Low crops and ripe fruit produce wine that has become renowned for exhibiting intense fruit characteristics and classical elegance. The philosophy that we pursue has always been one of elegance and fruit power with the foundation of the style being drinkability. We put a lot of store in the selection of flavors in the vineyard, subsequent small batch vintning and the final touches of the marriage are created at the blending table. Fleshy and ripe, with very good intensity to guava, pink grapefruit, grass and wet stone flavors. Tart lime juice acidity streamlines the fruit through a minerally finish. 90 Points Wine Spectator

White Wine by Palliser Estate from Martinborough, New Zealand. In Palliser Estate's Martinborough vineyards, they train the vines to achieve a low canopy density and well-exposed fruit. This combined with judicious leaf plucking produces the distinctive fruit flavors in the wine. When the grapes are judged to be at their optimum maturity, they are harvested and processed to retain the inherent fruitiness of this varietal. Vibrant lifted aromas of passion fruit, elderflower, green herbs and a hint of stone fruits. The palate is explosive with succulent fruit characters and excellent mid-palate texture and weight. The refreshing acidity gives a clean mouthfeel, and the flavors last and last. It is a lovely, expressive Sauvignon with beautiful balance and harmony.
