South America

White Wine by Concha y Toro from Chile, South America. Grapes were selected from Lot 30 in our El Triangulo vineyard, in the Casablanca Valley, where the ocean influence allows for slow ripening. This, in turn, helped 100% of the flavors of this aromatic variety to build up on the grape skin. The gravelly soil with a permeable stratum is very favorable. The south-facing hillside location is perfect for this variety. Region: Casablanca Valley, Chile Grape Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Description: Fresh with of shades of citrus and passion fruit intermingled with hints of sweet green peppers. Exhibits the unique, powerful, assertive character and distinctive style of cold-climate, New World Sauvignon Blancs. Hand picking and reductive handling produced a greenish juice brimming with tropical aromas. Fermentation took place at temperatures ranging from 13?C to 17?C. Grapes were picked in three stages in order to increase the range of aromas and flavors available for blending. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks over light lees for nine months. A perfect complement to shellfish and lightly spiced sushi.

White Wine by De Martino from Chile, South America. The DeMartino family has been producing wine in Chile's famous Maipo Valley for almost 70 years. Delicate use of oak adds complexity, but the strength of DeMartino wines is in their fruit, which results in big, rich, extracted flavors. These wines are concentrated yet elegant, each with a distinctive personality. DeMartino first began producing organic wines in 1991. From the pruning to the harvest, De Martino's organic wines are produced under the auspices of the Organic Management Program, certified by BCS Oko-Garantie. The organic grapes, which are grown in their own Isla de Maipo estate on the De Martino property, have permanent green cover crops between rows to facilitate biodiversity in the vineyard. The hand-picked grapes are fermented in their own yeasts and require a minimum of sulfur. This 100% Sauvignon Blanc has a bright yellow color with an expressive aroma of grass, citrus and white peach. On the palate it is crisp and well-balanced with an abundance of fruit, coupled with a vibrant acidity and luxuriously long finish. Ideal with smoked cheeses, fish and oysters.

White Wine by Los Vascos from Chile, South America. This Sauvignon Blanc is clear and it has a bright color with slight greenish reflections. The nose is very expressive showing lemon, grapefruit and exotic fruit aromas combined with Sauvignon's typical boxwood. It is lively, very fruity and juicy featuring very good concentration. The dynamic lemony finish is more mineral than in preceding vintages, which contributes great finesse. It should be drunk now while still young and fruity, though it may age well for another two years. Los Vascos is fast becoming the leader in value-priced Sauvignon Blanc from the Casablanca Valley. This is the winery's best effort to date, and it delivers a chammption's blas of green apple and citrus aromas. The palate is lively as can be, and it houses fine but also defined lemon and lime flavors. Refreshing as a walk under a cascade; clean and scouring. -Wine Enthusiast Best Buy
