		<description>Agreed.  The best rule of thumb is consistency. Especially with reds, you want to have a dark place that doesnt get sun altering the temperature daily.

You want to have a wine cooler allowing you to set a definitive temperature if you are going to hold on to them for some time. However, if you plan is just to store them for 1-12 months for drinking, a closet of dark corner is fine.  Basements and such are preferred as they don't change temperature as often as your living areas with lots of windows.

Consistency is most important over a specific temperature for most folks.</description>

		<description>Definitely have to get the temperature just right.  I had to tip a bottle of 1998 cabernet sauvignon down the sink the other night because I had not kept it at the right temperature and it was undrinkable.  :(</description>
